With festival season already underway I thought it would be appropriate to share this super simple and trendy diy that would be the perfect accessory for a day at Coachella, a special date, or fancy day at work.
The supplies:
• Silk flowers of your choice snipped off the main bunch. Remember to leave a little more than a half inch of stem
• Three pieces of leather chord cut to about 1ft each
• Craft or Jewelry glue. I prefer the jewelry glue because it stays a little pliable. Hot glue may work too!
• Needle nose pliers and wire cutters
• A few jump rings and a clasp
• 10-12in of chain
• A few feet of chord or string
Extras:
• Floral tape, you might be able to use it to wrap your flowers to your braid instead of glue
• Some extra pieces of chain to add a little shine to your crown
1. Take your 3 pieces of leather and long piece of chain, put a bit of glue where the pieces come together and wrap the chord around several times to secure everything together. Tie off the chord and put a tiny dot of glue on the knot. Allow ample time for the glue to dry.
2. Tape everything down and begin to braid. Only braid the chain in every so often so it drapes down a bit and so you have space to attach your extra chain on later if you want.
3. Continue braiding until it will wrap just over half way around your head, then follow step 1 again to seal off the opposite end.
4. Leave some extra chain on the end and attach the clasp. Then attach the rest of the chain to the other end and link together some of your jump rings to make your crown adjustable.
5. Next find a spot on your headband where you want the extra chain to fall and attach them to the hanging chain in the braid with the jump rings.
6. Finally insert the stems of the flowers through the woven parts of the braid, carefully and discreetly glue them down. Once the glue is totally dry you can trim the stems so they are flush to the backside of the braid and you are ready to go!
As usual please let me know if you have any questions regarding my instructions and I would be more than happy to help! Hope you love this little diy as much as I do!
