Something you may not know about me, I'm a huge space nerd. I fantasize about being an astrophysicist like Mr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, the girls I work with are always hearing me preach about the latest meteor shower they they should go out and watch and I inevitably always end up staying up until 3am on a work night to attempt to photograph them. I'm even (secretly) planning a trip up to Canada to scope out the Northern Lights. Some day I would love the oportunity to take photographs like the ones below, or just to work with the incredible telescopes that are able to see far away places like these.
I'm obsessed.
The thought of the universe's sheer size simultaneously blows my mind and fascinates me and I'm always wanting to learn more.
Today I've spent a good portion of my morning researching cosmic photos for a T-shirt group I'm starting at work. The very first thing I typed into Google? "Nasa Image Library." This led me to what is hands down my new favorite website, NASA's Astronomy Photo of the Day archive. I thought I would share a few of my favorites so far, but if you follow me on Pinterest be prepared for a whole lot more!
Be sure to click on the images to read about what you're seeing. It's so unbelievable what cameras and telescopes can capture and better yet what's happening in the universe around us, it's humbling.
Whenever I look through NASA pictures, I tear up. I just can't believe they are really real photos!
