This past Saturday my good friend Joe and I went to the Electric Daisy Carnival in New York City. I had the time of my life and every facet of the day was seriously perfect. It was a major workout for the senses. I'm hoping to post some videos eventually but for now here are some images I shared on Instagram.

We were so close to Armin that we could almost touch him. He was beyond amazing, so happy and so much energy. Also I'm convinced he pointed to us twice and gave us a bow when Joe started an Armin chant.

Next year, Vegas!

Happy Monday friends. After bouncing back and forth between the 20 or so tabs I have open in my web browser and seeing how long the always growing list of blogs I love so much and visit regularly for all sorts of inspiration has grown I've decided I want to start to sharing some of my favorites here with you! A couple girlfriends and I send emails regularly with new blog finds and every time I stumble on a new one it's like finding a little digital gift.

Currently I am addicted to everything about Paper Fashion. Loving the endless posts of little hand painted and glittered illustrations. There's something about a post featuring favorite new bags with painted pictures rather than images from google that makes everything about Paper Fashion so unique and special. I highly recommend checking it out!

I so wish I had the time to paint and make so many amazing little illustrations/drawings/cutouts/ect like Katie does everyday.

That's exactly what I have been since I left for my trip and I am sorry for that! After my trip, a few personal family matters and spending most of the tail end last week sick it's been really hard to get back in my routines, and I apologize for that. I'm in the works to share what an amazing time I had with my friend and also a new play list soon which I hope will all be lovely posts for you to enjoy through out this week.

As I got settled back in front of my computer I found these images by Jennis Li Cheng Tein on Pattern Bank and I was blown away. I wish my mind could work like this when I try to come up with new styles of painting for myself. So soft and eerie and the colors to go along with the style just make it.

I wanted to let you know that I won't be posting much this week with the exception of some instagram shots I can post from my phone because I will be traveling to Colorado with my best friend! I am so excited and praying for beautiful cold/snowy weather. In the mean time I am going to be posting some new art to my artflakes account tonight. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think! Hopefully lots more to come soon.

the view from up there

Yesterday I spent the day power walking through New York for a work trip and it never fails, no matter how many times I'm there I will always feel like a wide eyed tourist looking around at the ridiculous scenery. I always have to try to be as photo conscious as possible in an effort to be "cool" and not have my corny camera phone out all the time snapping pictures of anything and everything. However when I returned home I began browsing through photos I'd taken on past trips when I was younger and felt like it was ok to be a "tourist". That's when I came across these gems.

See the flat iron building right there? I met the one and only Mr. Karl Lagerfeld right in front of it about 4 years ago after stumbling onto a Fendi shoot with some classmates. Seriously! I have the pics to prove it, and I later found the Fendi ads in Elle. May of been the coolest "fashion moments" of my whole like. (I use the term "met" loosely").

I can't believe these have been hibernating on my external hard drive for the past 7 (holy crap) years. I may have to spend some time going through all my old pictures at some point, and perhaps I will share the best ones on here!

hey, look what i made!

With festival season already underway I thought it would be appropriate to share this super simple and trendy diy that would be the perfect accessory for a day at Coachella, a special date, or fancy day at work.

The supplies:

• Silk flowers of your choice snipped off the main bunch. Remember to leave a little more than a half inch of stem

• Three pieces of leather chord cut to about 1ft each

• Craft or Jewelry glue. I prefer the jewelry glue because it stays a little pliable. Hot glue may work too!

• Needle nose pliers and wire cutters

• A few jump rings and a clasp

• 10-12in of chain

• A few feet of chord or string

Extras:

• Floral tape, you might be able to use it to wrap your flowers to your braid instead of glue

• Some extra pieces of chain to add a little shine to your crown

an ode to washi tape

Small obsession is putting it lightly, I am totally and completely infatuated with my new washi tape collection. The best part is constantly finding new things to make/spice up with the stuff! The web is booming with countless ideas and diy tutorials for it and I am determined to cover my whole apartment in washi tape colorfulness (Steve is pumped).

 

So not only have have I fallen deeply in love with my new found art supply(when in reality I hoped on this train a little late in the game), but I was also super inspired by a couple posts I've seen on Design Love Fest recently. Because of this I guarantee you will be seeing more peeks into my (almost)new moleskin that I plan to keep a visual diary in until it is bursting at it's binding.

Seriously this stuff will make anything look cool!

lomo [fo sho]

While floating through the interwebs today I came across the lovely lomo photos captured by Trever Hoehne. If you check out his website you can see he did two studies with lomo photos and blurred/bokeh instant camera shots. Seeing his one of a kind photos is getting me excited to play with my new toy (an instax mini 50s) but also lighting a fire under my butt to shoot with my film cameras more. Something about the uncertainty of exactly what your photos will turn out is so much fun.
